In 2012 Patti-Kay Hamilton retired after three decades working as a reporter and producer with CBC North. During that time she won numerous honours including the Gabriel International award for excellence in broadcast journalism and the Canadian Broadcaster’s award for a five part series on family violence called “Behind Closed Doors.” Hamilton covered everything from the surprise visit of the Pope to Yellowknife to a proposal to slaughter all of the bison in Wood Buffalo National Park.
