Come and join us for a fascinating evening of stories, culture and food! The NLMCC is proud to host Rosalie Bourke, a Bush Cree Elder, and her
daughter to kick off our monthly Speaker’s Series for 2015. Rosalie Bourke was raised on the land until she was seven years old, and then attended
a residential school until the age of 15. Rosalie is a gifted artist and makes traditional tanned moose skin hides to make moccasins which she
decorates with intricate beadwork. Rosalie teaches traditional skills such as drying meat & fish in addition to tanning hides & beadwork. She is an accomplished translator and has interpreted the Cree language for several organizations. Rosalie will be sharing stories about her childhood growing
up in the bush, speaking about some of her experiences at the residential school, sharing traditional fables in Cree culture, and sharing her wealth of traditional knowledge.
Bannock and chili will be served.
