Mask Making Playshop

Master mask maker Douglas R. Witt offers an evening of fun, learning and play with masks.
Douglas will guide students through a simple mask making project and help them to reveal their
inner character! This is a great workshop for children and families to learn some basic sculpting
concepts, papier-mache making and painting on a 3D surface. Students will come out with a
mask suitable for parties and home décor.
Douglas R. Witt
Douglas R. Witt, the Professor of Masketry, is a teacher of everything mask. Douglas brings his
in-depth knowledge of mask and its history to life with every mask project he works on. He is a
specialist in traditional styles of mask making with a focus on papier-mache. Douglas is a Metis
First Nation artist, based in Fort Smith, NWT. He makes his living traveling the Northwest
Territories and Canada teaching and sharing his passion for mask-making.
